VTK Python

VTK (the Visualization Toolkit) is an open-source, freely available software system for scientific visualization. Initiated in 1993, this library is now available in version 9.0.3 and is already used in various applications: ParaView, 3D Slicer, PyVista,vedo,TTK,F3D, … it can even be used in Blender and Unity.
In this training, we will see the basics of VTK and create analysis and visualisation pipelines. Then we will see how to create our own VTK filters and how to integrate them in ParaView. At the end, we will use PyVista to quickly prototype an analysis pipeline in a Jupyter Notebook.

Meet the instructor

Charles joined Kitware in February 2016.

For the first three years, Charles worked on its PhD on the topic of “High Performance Level-set based Topological Data Analysis”, where he became one of the main contributors of the Topology ToolKit (TTK).

After defending in February 2019, Charles joined the Scientific Visulization team. He now works on several projects at Kitware involving parallel programming, discrete geometry and data analysis algorithms.
